HI and Vitusoft Enter Into MOU On the Development of Mobile And Smart Phone Games
— Plan to collaborate on the global development of 3D mobile games in Japan, South Korea, North America, and Europe —
HI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO: Kazuo Kawabata; hereinafter "HI") announced today that HI and South Korean content development company Vitusoft.Inc (Headquarters: Seoul, South Korea; CEO: Jeong Byung Ki; hereinafter "Vitusoft") have signed a MOU on the joint research and development of 3D games for mobile phones and smart phones in order to capture the global market.
This collaboration enables both companies to conduct application development of HI's 3D rendering engine "MascotCapsule®" and Vitusoft's DMM engine (Dream Monster Mobile Engine) in order to actively work together on the joint development of games and applications by sharing the experiences and knowledge earned from each business field.
In addition, both companies will collaborate on content exports to Japan, South Korean, Asia, North America, and Europe where the smart phone is growing fast.
Among Vitusoft's contents utilizing MascotCapsule, a 3D mobile game "Hustle-Billiards" that was launched in January 2010 from Korean carrier SK Telecom has gained huge popularity because billiards is a national pastime. Due to this success, the game was also distributed by KT and LG Telecom starting April 2010, making it available from three major mobile phone carriers in South Korea, which has led both companies to enter into this agreement.
"This MOU will trigger us to create more innovative content for global mobile and smart phone application markets, including the markets in Japan and Korea. The first outcome will be a 3D golf game "Hustle-Golf (tentative name)" to be released on mobile phones and smart phones (iPhone®, Android™ handsets, etc.) in October 2010," said Jeong Byung Ki, CEO of Vitusoft.
Kazuo Kawabata, President and CEO of HI said, "As we highly appreciate the technologies of "Hustle-Billiards" and we strongly believe that this will contribute to further development for both companies, we've reached this agreement. Through this collaboration, HI is committed to providing 3D application technology and knowledge in order for Vitusoft to develop various unique game content."
