HI Collaborates With INNOPHILIA For 3D User Interface Software Technology
For Android

--Develop 3D UI (User Interface) components "Smarty3D" (tentative name)
using Android-compliant MascotCapsule eruption--

HI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO: Kazuo Kawabata; hereinafter "HI") announced today that HI will collaborate with INNOPHILIA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Seoul, Korea: President Kim Min Seok) for 3D UI software technology for Android (*1) in developing 3D UI components (*2) "Smarty3D" (tentative name) using both companies' technologies and performing marketing activities.

HI and INNOPHILIA are developing 3D UI components "Smarty3D" that enables enriched 3D effects at high-speeds for user interfaces in the address book, music list, photo album, and home application (*3) running under Android.
Through this development, HI's MascotCapsule eruption (hereinafter "eruption"), an OpenGL® ES (*4) compliant 3D rendering engine, has successfully supported Android by implementing all eruption's features in native code.
Since the "Smarty3D" adopts eruption, the OpenGL ES, normally controlled using Java, can be controlled in native code, allowing fast, beautiful renderings in Android.
In addition, the "Smarty3D" enables the implementation of 3D effects by using the same method as 2D UI development in a programming-friendly Android environment. This allows the developer to easily create rich user interfaces that combine 2D and 3D effects.
