HI's "MascotCapsule® eruption" Supports Apple's iPhone™
And iPod® touch

HI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazuo Kawabata hereinafter "HI") today announced that its high-performance 3D rendering engine MascotCapsule eruption supports the smart phone iPhone™ and the portable media player iPod® touch produced by Apple Inc (hereinafter "Apple").

The eruption enables the same rendering even among different platforms if developers use the same API and input data, allowing them to easily port an application from another device. In addition, since eruption has been developed based on the already widely used MascotCapsule series V3 (*1), it is possible for developers to use their development knowledge without learning new techniques.
Supporting the industry-standard OpenGL® ES, eruption has an advantage in high-speed rendering by making the best use of iPhone's 3D graphic accelerator. It also has many functions for various effects that support the development, enabling effective 3D graphics programming. This allows developers to focus on the development of a 3D application that makes full use of iPhone's features.

HI has high expectations that the support for iPhone and iPod touch will further accelerate the content development for international platforms, resulting in greater adoption of MascotCapsule.
