SKT Corporation of South Korea for GIGA Project

HI CORPORATION (head office: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO Kazuo Kawabata) and XCE Corporation (head office : Seoul, Korea; president Ju Hyeok Kim,) announced that a decision was made for the two companies to supply the 3D rendering engine called "Mascot Capsule Engine Micro3D Edition" for the "GIGA Project" series of mobile phones which were formally unveiled by SKT Corporation on 20 May. This engine will become the first 3D engine to be formally embedded in mobile phones in South Korea.

This decision will result in the provision of Mascot Capsule Engine-operated 3D content to be presented on mobile phones in South Korea, which in turn is expected to create markets for mobile 3D content in South Korea.

HI CORPORATION and XCE Corporation are jointly developing entertainment content that makes full use of the capabilities of this 3D engine for successive release starting from the scheduled release date of the GIGA phone.

About GIGA Project
The GIGA Project is a next-generation mobile phone project promoted by SK Telecom.
Multimedia is a buzzword in the mobile internet market. Reflecting this trend, carriers and device manufacturers are devising releases of multi-functional high-end phones with features such as a camera, color screen and multi-poly sound. The GIGA project aims to build an environment where the user can download and play mobile rich media such as mobile 3D or mobile flash in the very high-end devices with an acceleration chip (ex. Nazomi JA108 etc). SK Telecom, handset manufacturers, chip manufacturers, solution providers and content providers participate in the GIGA project for promoting the mobile internet market. GIGA phones enhance the performance of applications running and dramatically increase the performance (5 to 6 times more graphics processing performance than an ordinary phone) of multimedia (2D/3D Graphics, Video, Audio, Animation and JPEG imaging) while reducing power consumption.
