HI CORPORATION announces New Version of
Mascot Capsule® Engine Micro3D Edition as mobile 3D polygon engine
Aug. 29, 2002 (Tokyo, Japan)-Mobile 3D rendering technology pioneer HI CORPORATION (head office: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Kazuo Kawabata; paid-in capital: 139.25 million yen) announced Mascot Capsule Engine Micro3D Edition Version 3 today. The new version builds on the existing 3D polygon engine implemented in J-PHONE and NTT DoCoMo 504i handsets.
In comparison to the previous Mascot Capsule Engine Micro3D Edition Version 2 capable of displaying a single model in 3D, the newly announced Version 3 engine introduces the z axis to enable rendering that includes 3D scenes.
In addition, multiple models can be arranged in one scene, while texture animation allows more pronounced expressions for the models. The overall environment enables more delicate, more complex, and richer 3D graphics.
The concurrent supply of the Java engine with the C engine follows from previous practice, and provides broader support of operating environments. The engine software is already proven operable across a variety of platforms. Consequently, costs and lead times for implementation are expected to be markedly reduced.

Placement and display of multiple 3D models in one scene is enabled. |
| Multiple Textures |
Multiple textures can be set to a single model. |
| Texture Size 256x256pixel |
Ver. 1 and Ver. 2 texture palettes were 128 x 128; Ver. 3 texture is 256 x 256. |
| Texture Animation |
Texture changes synchronized to action allow models with richer expression. |
Super Sampling |
Low-resolution mode with low CPU loads is available for games that require small screens and speed. Elegant high-resolution mode with high CPU loads is available for product images that require quality. The modes are selectable. |
